It’s no surprise that cafés in Vienna became popular meeting places during this period. In 1828, right in the heart of the Biedermeier era, people were already enjoying “Kaffee à la Giraffe” – the inspiration behind our award-winning design. By 1900, Vienna boasted around 600 cafés, securing its reputation as the world capital of coffeehouses – a title it still proudly holds today.
Culture, art, and coffee have always been deeply intertwined in Vienna, shaping a coffee culture that remains truly unique.
That’s why we’re especially proud to be a partner of the exhibition “Biedermeier – The Rise of a New Era” at the Leopold Museum in Vienna.
The exhibition offers a fascinating look into the cultural and artistic movements of the time, as well as the values that made the Biedermeier period so special: the appreciation for detail, the joy of craftsmanship, and the love of a simple yet elegant lifestyle.
Values we still proudly celebrate – with every cup.
